What is Chiropractic?

Doctors of Chiropractic are health care professionals most concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health.

There is an emphasis on manual techniques, including joint adjustment and/or manipulation, with a particular focus on joint subluxation and restoring function.

Chiropractic was founded in 1895, by DD Palmer in Davenport, Iowa. Palmer was well versed in medical journals of his time and had a great knowledge of the developments that were occurring throughout the world regarding anatomy and physiology.

Since that time, Chiropractic has gained respect and recognition in all fifty states and has become a leader in the fields of noninvasive care promotion science-based approaches to a variety of ailments.

What is a subluxation?

A Chiropractic subluxation is identified by abnormal motion or position of bone in the spine. It is typically associated with pain and decreased range of motion to that joint.

The subluxation places pressure and stress on the spinal nerve that exit each level of the spinal column.

Chiropractors look to remove subluxations of the spine, which releases the pressure and stress nerves. That is why chiropractic adjustments are so effective at reducing low back and neck pain.
